Quality Manager – Strip & Pipe Mill

A Quality Manager in a Strip & Pipe Mill is responsible for ensuring the quality of steel strip and pipe products throughout the manufacturing process. This involves developing and implementing quality control procedures, monitoring production processes, inspecting products, and addressing any quality issues to meet company and industry standards. They also play a key role in continuous improvement initiatives and reporting on quality metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and Implementing Quality Plans:
Creating and maintaining quality assurance protocols and procedures for the strip and pipe mill.
Monitoring Production Processes:
Continuously observing the manufacturing process to ensure adherence to quality standards and identify potential issues.
Inspecting Products:
Conducting thorough inspections of both raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
Addressing Quality Issues:
Investigating and resolving any quality problems, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Training and Mentoring:
Educating employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Reporting and Documentation:
Preparing detailed reports on quality metrics, non-conformities, and corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering or a related field.
2. Minimum of 11–16 years of experience in a quality management role, preferably in steel/metal industry with exposure to Strip and Pipe Mill operations.
3. In-depth knowledge of quality systems, metallurgical processes, and applicable industry standards (API, ASTM, ISO, etc.).
4. Strong understanding of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and quality inspection tools.
5. Experience in managing audits and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, API Q1/Q2).
6. Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
