Key Responsibilities:
1>>Reviewing and Analyzing Radiology Reports:
Radiology Coders examine medical reports, including those from X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and nuclear medicine, to identify the procedures performed and diagnoses made.
2>>Assigning Codes:
They assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification), and HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) codes to procedures and diagnoses, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
3>>Ensuring Compliance:
They maintain adherence to coding guidelines from organizations like the American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and specific payer requirements.
4>>Staying Updated:
Keeping abreast of changes in coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory updates is essential.
