A Housekeeping Staff is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility, including patient rooms, common areas, and restrooms. They perform tasks such as cleaning, sanitizing, waste disposal, and restocking supplies, while adhering to strict infection control protocols and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
1. Cleaning and Sanitizing:
Thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, restrooms, offices, and other designated areas, including floors, surfaces, and fixtures.
2. Waste Disposal:
Properly disposing of medical and non-medical waste according to hospital policy and procedures.
3. Bed Making and Linen Management:
Changing bed linens, replacing towels, and managing laundry as needed.
4. Restocking Supplies:
Ensuring that patient rooms and other areas are adequately stocked with necessary supplies like soap, paper towels, and toiletries.
5. Floor Care:
Performing tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, and sweeping to maintain clean and safe floors.
6. Infection Control:
Following established infection control protocols and guidelines to minimize the risk of infection spread, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
7. Equipment Maintenance:
Maintaining and properly using cleaning equipment and tools, such as vacuum cleaners, mops, and cleaning solutions.
8. Reporting Maintenance Issues:
Notifying the appropriate department or supervisor about any maintenance or repair needs within the facility.
9. Following Safety Standards:
Adhering to all safety and health regulations, including the safe handling of cleaning chemicals and waste.
10. Emergency Response:
Assisting with cleaning and disinfecting in emergency situations, such as spills or accidents.
